CBNA currently forms part of a team who is developing a transit project in Miami: the Miami Beach Corridor, a piece of Miami-Dade County SMART Plan. This is primarily a bridge project that primarily involves heavy civil and marine works.

CBNA is currently looking for a CAD Technician to join our team.

POSITION SUMMARY

The CAD Technician will create detailed drawings to develop means and methods for the project that are best for works safety, site constraints, constructability and affordability of the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Uses computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create full-scale and detailed drawings of the means & methods at various stages of the construction project designs of all parts of the tunnel project. This shall be based on principles and rough drawings prepared by the means & methods engineer, and incorporate construction regulations (such as lifting rules)
  • Identifies and proposes solutions to enhance safety, work around existing site constraints, keep the means & methods solution within the project’s right-of-way and prefer means that can easily be mobilized locally.
  • Prepares preliminary drawings for internal purposes and reviews to allow for a fast-paced solutions’ assessment, selection and optimization.
  • Manages X-Ref and reference library
  • Prepares formal drawings per the project’s graphic charter for submission to the management and the client
  • Produces 3D views of various stages of the construction process, using CAD softwares (such as Autocad, Revit, Civil 3D).
  • May visit jobsites to gather data needed to complete designs
  • Meets with engineers to review drawings and develop solutions on an every-day basis.
  • Participates proactively into the company BIM strategy and development

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 Associate degree in Drafting, or level of experience resulting in equivalent knowledge

  • Related experience working as CAD Technician in heavy civil construction including method drawings is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD software and other drafting tools
  • Knowledge of Revit, AutoCad 3D, Civil 3D and/or Naviswork Software preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Curiosity and motivation to use and new tools and help grow BIM within the company
